Former TOC intern Damian Moskovitz and Objectivist activist Tal Ben-Shahar, both recent Harvard graduates, have been leading the charge against the "living wage" campaign of some of Harvard University's students.
Twice in October, Moskovitz and Ben-Shahar's protests were featured on the cover of the Harvard Crimson, the university's school newspaper. Moskovitz also reports that, thus far, the two have distributed over one thousand flyers with philosophical arguments against the proposed wage increase. They have also been asked to participate in a public debate about the issues.
"We are the only ones to publicly oppose the 'living wage' campaign on moral grounds," says Moskovitz, "and as Objectivists, we are the only ones with the philosophical foundation to do so."
The "living wage" movement at Harvard is a student-led attempt to increase the wages of the university's maintenance and support staff, which attempt Moskovitz criticized extensively in the July/August Navigator.
