I believe everybody should read Atlas Shrugged, so whenever I speak in public, I promote the book and Ayn Rand's writings. In my writings, ezines and blog, I promote Objectivism at every opportunity. I agree with the idea and try to talk about the reasoning behind my own values when I can. What caught my eye in your post was the last sentence. What evidence do you have or know of to suggest that Atlas will shrug? And in what context(s) do you think this will happen? Are you refering to a near or distant future, or leaving that undetermined? Thank you.    Report

04-04-2007, 11:20 AM Mr Squiggle Joined on 04-04-2007 Posts 35 Re: Promote Atlas Shrugged I don't think Atlas will shrugg.  The western world is becomming more and more comfortable with the idea of a welfare supported by the system of private property and private wealth.  There has never been less political will to tackle the ideological divide between individuality and collectivisim.  It is just not an issue to most people anymore.  The gap between the west and the rest of the world is now about religion and trade, not ideological stances.  Without a superpower that stands strongly against private property and individualism there is nothing to focus the mind of western civilisation against collectivism.    Report
