Is there any way to tell the Directors NOT to cast Angelina Jolie!?

I don't know about you, but...  Angelina Jolie seems like one of the worst possible actresses for Dagny Taggart - it seems like we should make a petition to bar her from being Dagny Taggart, but...who knows, maybe I'm a lone dissenter here...

Hello Angelina would be perfect for this role . She is an amazing actress who is able to make and hold a character, what more could you ask for ? I mean she could really make this movie what it should be . If you base your opinion solely on her acting abilities and nothing else you must be thinking of someone else . I have never seen her play a weak or shy character she has everything that it would take to play Dagny Taggart . I have yet to see her really botch anything .Huh? [:^)]

Well we will just have to see when a director is chosen.  I for one want to see what his pick will be before I give an serious comment

i'm a huge Rand fan new to the forum and this is my first post...

you're definitely not a lone dissenter...it seems totally incongruous to me as well...look at how this woman lives her life (although i can only comment on the public side of that life).  the rumored fact that angelina vehemently wanted to play the role of Dagny seems stranger than fiction.  what could someone with her, shall we say, "track record," want with a role as sharp, steely and selfish as Rand's Dagny?

angelina's recent look is more simple and sexy than in her "goth" past, but i'd say too obviously sexy.  that pouty mouth and big eyes.  i know angelina's played some supposedly "tough girl" roles in the past, but i find it hard to believe that she could pull off the mysterious masculine sophistication that keeps Dagny flying under the radar in her affair with Rearden. look in her eyes and see, in my opinion, that angelina seems as though she's got sex on the brain 24-7.

on the flip side, that same quality could play in to Dagny's sexually ("liberated" character, part of what makes her so inspiring a female lead.  hmmm...

the only thing i can think of is -- her reasons for wanting this part must be purely selfish. ;)

Good luck trying to find an actress in Hollywood that is literate enough to have even read this book. I think Jolie is a very strong actress - and very versatile. As to her private life - who cares if she can pull it off and has actually managed to read and understand the premise of this novel. After all, it's acting.

I think she would make a great Dagny.  She claims to have read - and been positively influenced - by the book.  That's a good start.  She's a good actor, and she certainly has the physical attributes to play Dagny.

I haven't heard any news about the filming... I just hope it's still going to happen!

There are far worse people who could be cast as Dagny.  I think she'd be okay.

I agree, so I went to the production company website and emailed one of the bigwigs there as to my displeasure with this casting.  I expressed the same sentiment as someone else posted here, Jolie does not live her life as if she has been influenced in any way by Rand, and her perception by the public as a ... well, let's keep it nice and just say the public generally thinks poorly of her, as her inability to carry a movie to success has shown recently.  I may be crazy, but I suggested someone like Brooke Shields, who has demonstrated that she can actually act, and has the looks as well, which Jolie does not... anyone remember Rand describing Dagny as a big lipped sunken eyed sinewy muscle girl?  I must have missed that somehow.

If Jolie is in the movie, sorry to say, I won't be in the theatre, unless I hear it's the next Citizen Kane.
