04-06-2006, 12:22 PM tqk Joined on 04-01-2006 Calgary, AB, Canada Posts 5 Re: The Full Context Thanks for that Free Muslims link.  I did go there, and based on their stated principles, I found only one of them I disagree with: We believe in the re-interpretation of Islam for the 21st century where terrorism is not justified under any circumstances. We believe in the separation of religion and state. We believe that democracy is the best form of government. We believe in the promotion of secularism in all forms of political activity. We believe that equality for women is an inalienable right. We believe that religion is a personal relationship between the individual and his or her God and is not to be forced on anyone. Those are pretty strong beliefs, and just as strongly stated ("... terrorism is not justified under any circumstances").  I would have no difficulty associating with someone who believes this.  I disagree with them only on the question of democracy; I strongly suspect we can do better than democracy, but it remains to be seen whether we ever will. Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced. (*) - -    Report
